Aximo Design are recognised for designing parts that not only look great, but also consider the necessary technical details of the design/moulding process.

We design injection moulded components for new or existing products, ranging from simple parts to the most challenging seen in plastics within medical devices. This includes tight tolerances and intricate functional features.

Designing such components, takes experience and knowledge of the materials to be used, as well as a solid understanding of the tool making/moulding process. With this knowledge it can be designed to be reliable, cost effective, functional and fit for purpose.

Tooling, such as injection moulding can be expensive – it is vital to get things right at the design stage. Some mould tools require complicated, costly features to ensure moulding to the provided design drawings. Therefore, it is vital to ensure the design is made simple, whilst meeting the design specification and maintaining functionality. This potentially eliminates additional expensive tooling costs and unnecessary complication.

Throughout the design for plastics process, we effectively communicate and explain why certain features and materials are used and ensure that the part is ready for manufacture prior to sending it out to your moulder. We can also recommend a manufacturer.

A poorly designed part may require lots of communication and redesigning between the moulder and yourself.  This ultimately leaves you with an expensive way of doing things, and worst case, an unfeasible design.

Through the design process we will:

  • 3D print prototypes for client approval and evaluation
  • Review Solidworks CAD models for approval and evaluation
  • FEA and functionality reviews
  • Lease with toolmakers and moulders for feedback and final costings
